A hybrid application relies partly on the data of a reference medicine and partly on new studies. It is used when a product is close to a reference medicine but differs, for example in strength, route of administration or indication. Through the European Medicines Agency, the same 210-day opinion limit applies. Products based on a reference medicine that do not meet the generic definition, or where changes in substance, indication, strength, form or route need new data.
The official review target is 210 days (regulation). Time the applicant takes to answer questions (clock stops) is not counted. Targets are not actual review times.
The centralised marketing authorisation application under article 10(3) (hybrid) is €426,100 for From 2025-01-01.

Outcome: One marketing authorisation valid in every EU country, decided by the European Commission. Valid for 5 years.
Legal basis: Directive 2001/83/EC, Article 10(3); Regulation (EC) No 726/2004
