The foreign exchange (forex or FX) market is the largest and most liquid market in the world, where currencies are traded in pairs such as EUR/USD, USD/JPY, and GBP/USD. Exchange rates shift constantly in response to interest rates, inflation, central-bank policy, and global events, making forex a real-time reflection of economic strength. The same currency data is also available through the DataPorium financial data API.
To read a currency pair, remember that the first currency is the base and the second is the quote: EUR/USD at 1.10 means one euro buys 1.10 dollars. When the rate rises, the base currency is strengthening; when it falls, it is weakening. Major pairs involving the US dollar tend to be the most liquid and least volatile, while exotic pairs can move sharply. Watching pairs alongside economic indicators helps you understand the forces driving each move.

A pair like EUR/USD shows how much of the quote currency (USD) one unit of the base currency (EUR) buys. A rising rate means the base currency is strengthening.

Open one of these pairs and pick the Positioning tab.
Once a week. Positions are counted every Tuesday and published the Friday after, from official public data.
2 ways to write one pair: euro futures are priced as EUR/USD (US dollars per euro). For USD/EUR the Positioning tab swaps long and short and flips the sign of the net, so a net long euro position shows as net short USD/EUR.
