New drugs for serious diseases with unmet medical needs can be approved on a surrogate endpoint that is reasonably likely to predict clinical benefit. They get the 240 day priority review and must confirm the benefit after approval. New drugs where a surrogate endpoint supports approval before outcome data are complete.
The official review target is 240 days (official guidance). Time the applicant takes to answer questions (clock stops) is not counted. Targets are not actual review times.
The accelerated approval designation request fee is NT$30,000 for Fee standard in force since 2021-01-01.
