New drugs that meet two of three criteria (new drug, serious disease with unmet medical need, government-supported development) can be reviewed in 240 days instead of 360. The TFDA decides on the designation within 30 days. New drugs for serious diseases with unmet needs, or government-supported products.
The official review target is 240 days (official guidance). Time the applicant takes to answer questions (clock stops) is not counted. Targets are not actual review times.
