What is wrong
Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain Bendix EC80 Advanced Electronic Control Units (ECU) part numbers K163499 and K190048. Electrical noise and low signal to the power line carrier may cause the ECU to incorrectly process commands or stop working.
What can happen
Safety systems that depend on the ECU (Automatic Traction Control, ABS, Electronic Stability Control, Active Cruise Control, and Collison Mitigation System) may have diminished or lost functionality, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
Dealers will reprogram the ECU software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 15, 2025. Owners may contact Volvo Trucks' customer service at 1-800-528-6586. Volvo Trucks' number for this recall is RVXX2513.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
