A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data, updated daily. Vehicles, tires and child car seats are on the vehicle recalls page.
DataPorium lists every US consumer product recall since the 1970s, from official public data, with recalls up to Oct 8, 2026: toys and children's products, furniture, appliances, tools, bicycles, off-road vehicles, clothing and more. Each recall has its own page with the product, the hazard, the number of units, reported incidents, where it was sold and the remedy.
A consumer product recall is announced when a company, usually together with the safety regulator, finds that a product can hurt people. Most recalls offer a refund, a repair or a replacement; the recall says how to get it. The hazard groups here (fire, choking, falls, tip-over and others) are a neutral grouping of the stated risk. Units are the numbers the company reported, so they mix very different products and are best compared within one product type. Vehicles, tires and child car seats are on the vehicle recalls page instead.
Recalls by companies with listed shares are also shown in the Risk & Compliance tab of their stock page. The same data is in the DataPorium API (/recalls with kind=consumer, and /recalls/totals) and is updated daily.
420 US consumer product recalls in 2025, covering about 39.1 million units, compared with 305 in 2024. 479 so far in 2026.
