What is wrong
CERTAIN BENDIX SR-7 SPRING BRAKE MODULATING VALVES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN APRIL 1 AND MAY 24, 2006, INSTALLED AS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT FOR HEAVY TRUCKS AND SOLD AS AFTERMARKET REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT. THE CHECK VALVE INSIDE THE VALVE CAVITY MAY NOT PROPERLY SEAT, CAUSING INTERNAL AIR LEAKAGE. THIS CAN CAUSE A DELAY IN THE APPLICATION OF THE SPRING BRAKE TO PARK THE VEHICLE AFTER THE OPERATOR PULLS THE DASH VALVE BUTTON.
What can happen
THE DELAYED PARKING BRAKE APPLICATION CAN OCCUR WITHOUT WARNING, LEADING TO UNINTENDED VEHICLE ROLLAWAY, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH, PERSONAL INJURY, OR DEATH.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
BENDIX WILL NOTIFY THE OWNERS OF THE AFTERMARKET REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT AND THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURERS WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND WILL REPAIR THE VEHICLE FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL FOR THE AFTERMARKET REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT BEGAN ON JUNE 8, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT BENDIX AT 440-329-9000.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
