What is wrong
C. E. WHITE IS RECALLING CERTAIN SELF-LATCHING SEAT CUSHIONS MANUFACTURED FROM APRIL 14, 2010, THROUGH JUNE 7, 2011. THESE SEATS ARE INSTALLED AS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT IN VARIOUS SCHOOL BUSES. THE SELF-LATCHING MECHANISM USED TO RETAIN THE SEAT CUSHION TO THE FRAME MAY NOT ACTIVATE. ACCORDINGLY, THESE SEATS FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 222, "SCHOOL BUS PASSENGER SEATING AND CRASH PROTECTION."
What can happen
VEHICLE OCCUPANTS MAY BE INJURED IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE CRASH SHOULD THE SEAT CUSHION FLIP UP OUT OF PLACE. ALSO, OUT OF POSITION SEAT CUSHIONS COULD INTERFERE WITH EMERGENCY EGRESS OF THE VEHICLE.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
