What is wrong
Hale Products, Inc (Hale) is recalling certain Class 1 Ultraview Touchscreen Displays manufactured September 30, 2011, to May 10, 2016, equipped with Class 1 Ultraview Touchscreens manufactured by Hale Products. These touchscreens may experience false switch activations that can happen without the operator's knowledge causing accessories to turn on or off, affecting vehicle performance.
What can happen
The unintended turning on or off of accessories such as emergency beacons or automatic snow chains can increase the risk of a crash.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
Hale will notify the purchasers of the displays. Some models will be reprogrammed, others will get supplemental training guides to prevent the unintended activations. The recall began on June 30, 2016. Owners may contact Hale customer service at 1-800-533-3569.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
