What is wrong
Neotek Corporation, Inc. (Neotek) is recalling certain replacement brake rotors, branded as DURALAST, part number 5399, sold exclusively through Autozone. Some of the brake rotors may have been produced from castings with narrow thickness in the bridge between the mounting surface and the braking surface. The narrow area of the casting can allow for fractures.
What can happen
If the casting fractures, there may be a decrease in braking performance, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
Neotek will notify the Autozone retail outlets and post public notices about the recall. Any affected DURALAST brake rotor will be replaced, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during January 2013. Owners may contact Neotek at 1-877-978-5490.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
