What is wrong
Bridgestone/Firestone North America Tire (Bridgestone) is recalling certain Firestone FR710 tires, size 205/65R16, and Champion Fuel Fighter tires, sizes 205/65R15 and 205/70R15, manufactured March 27, 2016, to April 9, 2016. These replacement passenger car tires may have been manufactured with inconsistent rubber coverage over the steel plies. As a result, the tread may separate.
What can happen
A tread separation increases the risk of a crash.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
All the affected tires have been contained and destroyed, therefore, an owner notification letter will not be issued for this campaign. All affected tires were returned to BATO on May 5, 2016. Owners may contact Bridgestone customer service at 1-800-847-3272.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
