What is wrong
Hillsboro Industries (Hillboro) is recalling certain model year 2016 Open Aluminum Utility Trailers manufactured November 6, 2015, to April 1, 2016. On these trailers with a 2,990 Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), the axle attachment hardware may have been improperly installed, and as a result, the axle may not remain secured and aligned.
What can happen
If the axle shifts, the trailer may pull to one side, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
Hillsboro believes that all affected trailers were quarantined at dealers before being sold, therefore owner notifications will not be sent. Dealers will correct the axle mounting, free of charge. The recall began on April 14, 2016. Owners may contact Hillsboro customer service at 1-316-947-3127.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
