What is wrong
HME, Inc. (HME) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Ram 5500 emergency vehicles. The flanged wheel lug nuts may have been over-tightened during service.
What can happen
An over-tightened lug nut may cause the wheel stud to break, resulting in wheel separation and increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix

Dealers will also inspect the vehicle's wheel studs, replacing them if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on February 25, 2022. A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
