What is wrong
JONWAY IS RECALLING 180 MY 2008 SUNNY SCOOTERS. SOME OF THESE SCOOTERS MAY HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED WITHOUT A RETAINER CLIP DESIGNED TO PREVENT THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE LINE FROM COMING INTO CONTACT WITH THE FRONT TIRE. IN THE SCOOTERS WHERE THE RETAINER CLIP WAS NOT INSTALLED, THE BRAKE LINE MAY RUB AGAINST THE FRONT TIRE AND DAMAGE THE LINE.
What can happen
IF THE LINE IS RUBBED THROUGH, THE FRONT BRAKE MAY NOT OPERATE PROPERLY WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
OWNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED TO TAKE THEIR SCOOTERS TO DEALERS, AND DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE FRONT BRAKE LINE AND ITS ROUTING. A RETAINER CLIP WILL BE INSTALLED ON ANY SCOOTERS WITHOUT THOSE CLIPS, AND ANY DAMAGED BRAKE LINES WILL BE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON APRIL 15, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT JONWAY AT 972-408-6804.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
