What is wrong
Kompact Kamp is recalling certain 1983-2016 Kompact Kamp motorcycle trailers that were manufactured without side marker lights. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Assoc. Equipment."
What can happen
Without side marker lights, vehicle visibility can be decreased to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
Kompact Kamp will provide and install sidemarker lights on all trailers that were not equipped with sidemarker lights. The recall began on May 27, 2016. Owners may contact Kompact Kamp customer service at 1-717-933-8070.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
