What is wrong
FRED MEYER IS RECALLING 8,571 MY 2005-2008 LONG CHIH LCI-851T AND MY 2006-2008 LCI-890T TRAILERS FOR FAILING TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 110, "TIRE SELECTION AND RIMS" IN THAT THEY ARE MISSING A TIRE PLACARD LABEL. ALSO, THE GVWR ON THE CERTIFICATION LABEL ON SOME OF THE TRAILERS IS INCORRECT. FINALLY, THE GVWR AND GAWR MUST BE STATED IN POUNDS.
What can happen
THE MISSING AND INCORRECT INFORMATION COULD LEAD TO IMPROPER VEHICLE LOADING OR TIRE INFLATION WHICH COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The fix

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
