What is wrong
Corp. Micro Bird Inc. (Micro Bird) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 G5 school buses manufactured March 25, 2013, to May 1, 2015. In the affected buses, the positive battery feeder stud that is attached to the positive cable in the battery box may prematurely corrode. Additionally, bolts designed to mount the battery box may also be missing.
What can happen
If the feeder stud is corroded, a short circuit may result, increasing the risk of a fire. If the battery box mounting bolts are missing, the battery and box may detach causing damage to other components.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
Micro Bird will notify owners, and dealers will replace the feeder stud components and install a protective cap to prevent corrosion, free of charge. Any missing battery box bolts will be installed. The recall began on September 22, 2015. Owners may contact Micro Bird customer service at 1-819-477-2012 extension 364. Micro Bird's number for this recall is 15-060-BUS.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
