What is wrong
Nu Wa Industries Inc. (dba Kansas RV Center) is recalling one model year 2006 Hitchhiker Champagne Edition recreational vehicle. Due to a design change in the power awning motor assembly, the motor assembly screws may unknowingly shear.
What can happen
If the motor assembly screws shear, it is possible that the awning can unfurl unexpectedly, either while the vehicle is at rest or while in transit, increasing the risk of personal injury or a vehicle crash.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
Nu Wa Industries Inc. will notify the one owner and Dometic staff will replace the affected motor with a motor of a different design, free of charge. The notification was mailed to the owner on July 8, 2013. Owners may contact Nu Wa at 1-620-431-2088 or Dometic at 1-888-447-0003 for more information. A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
