What is wrong
Stargate Manufacturing Ltd (Stargate) is recalling certain 2018-2019 DUMP trailers equipped with the Smart-Steer 2.0 self-steering axle with a bolt-on steer arm at 8-7/8" tie-rod location. Under heavy loading, the bolts attaching the steer arm to the knuckle can shear.
What can happen
The steer arm can detach from the knuckle and drag, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
Stargate will notify owners, and dealers will weld the steering arm and/or replace the defective bolts, free of charge. The recall began on June 4, 2021. Owners may contact Stargate customer service at 1-905-636-6888, extension 30. Stargate's number for this recall is SB009R.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
