What is wrong
Kaffenbarger Truck Equipment Company (Kaffenbarger) is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Ford F-550 Super Duty vehicles modified by Kaffenbarger and equipped with certain Muncie Power Products PTO Assemblies. In the affected vehicles, oil may leak from the PTO pressure switch onto a thermal blanket covering the exhaust.
What can happen
The leaking oil may soak into the thermal blanket covering the exhaust, which when combined with heat from exhaust, may result in an increased risk of fire.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
Kaffenbarger will notify owners, and dealers will replace the old PTO assembly with a new pressure switch kit, free of charge. The recall began during September 2014. Owners may contact Kaffenbarger customer service at 1-877-465-5832.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
