What is wrong
Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain model year 2015 Thomas Built Buses Saf-t-liner school buses manufactured May 2, 2014, to July 31, 2015. The Cummins ISB or ISL engines in these vehicles may have been equipped with Fleetguard UFF-XT fuel filters, part number FF63009, whose filter shell may separate from the fuel filter nut plate causing the engine to stall without warning.
What can happen
If the engine stalls unexpectedly there is an increased risk of a crash.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
Cummins has notified owners on behalf of DTNA, and dealers will replace the fuel filter with a non-defective one, free of charge. The recall began in late September 2014. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-745-8000 or Cummins customer service at 1-800-223-4583. DTNA's number for this recall is FL-664.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
