What is wrong
ACCURIDE IS RECALLING ONE TUBELESS DUPLEX WHEEL, SIZE 22.5 X 14.00 15 DEGREE, WITH ACCURIDE PART NUMBER 29627. THE WHEEL IS COMPOSED OF A RIM THAT SUPPORTS THE TIRE AND A DISC THAT ARE WELDED INTO A ONE PIECE ASSEMBLY. THE ATTACHMENT WELD BETWEEN THE DISC AND THE RIM IS MISSING.
What can happen
A WHEEL WITHOUT AN ATTACHMENT WELD WILL NOT HAVE THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY TO SUPPORT THE LOAD OF THE VEHICLE AND THE TIRE. ANY SIGNIFICANT SIDE FORCE ON THE WHEEL DURING NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS AND LOADS COULD CAUSE THE DISC TO DISENGAGE FROM THE RIM. IF THE RIM AND DISC SEPARATE, THE RIM COULD COME OFF THE VEHICLE POSSIBLY CAUSING A CRASH RESULTING IN PROPERTY DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY, OR DEATH.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
