What is wrong
UNITED EXPRESSLINE IS RECALLING TWO MODEL YEAR 2012 GOOSENECK TRAILERS EQUIPPED WITH DEXTER ELECTRIC/HYDRAULIC (E/H) BRAKE ACTUATOR PUMPS. SOME OF THESE PUMPS MAY NOT HAVE BEEN PROPERLY HEAT TREATED. THIS CONDITION CAN CAUSE PREMATURE WEAR OF SOME CRITICAL COMPONENTS IN THESE PUMPS WHICH CAN RENDER THE UNIT INOPERABLE.
What can happen
THE E/H BRAKE ACTUATOR PROVIDES BRAKING POWER TO THE TRAILER BRAKES. FAILURE OF THE ACTUATOR CAN RESULT IN THE LOSS OF BRAKING EFFORT BY THE TRAILER, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
UNITED EXPRESSLINE WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEXTER WILL REPLACE THE ACTUATORS, FREE OF CHARGE. THE UNITS HAVE BEEN REPAIRED. OWNERS MAY CONTACT UNITED EXPRESSLINE, INC. AT 1-574-848-7088.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
