What is wrong
Vanguard National Trailer Corporation (Vanguard) is recalling certain model year 2014 VIP and VXP trailers manufactured October 10, 2013, to April 24, 2014, and equipped with certain SAF-Holland-brand CBX Trailer Suspension Air Ride Axle Systems. The affected trailer suspensions have pivot bolts that may fail.
What can happen
Failure of the pivot bolts may cause the suspension and attached axle to separate from the trailer, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
Vanguard will notify owners, and SAF-Holland-approved repair shops will replace the defective pivot bolts with new pivot bolts, free of charge. The recall began in September 2014. A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
