What is wrong
Vermeer Manufacturing Company (Vermeer) is recalling certain model year 2015 TLR30HD trailers manufactured April 21, 2015, to May 15, 2015, and 2015 TLR30LD trailers manufactured April 17, 2015, and May 14, 2015. The affected trailers may have an incorrectly installed safety chain.
What can happen
If the trailer hitch becomes unhooked from the tow vehicle, the safety chain will not prevent the trailer from completely separating from the tow vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
Vermeer will notify owners and dealers will install a field repair kit. The recall began on July 14, 2015. Owners may contact Vermeer customer service at 1-800-829-0051 or by email at productsafety@vermeer.com. Vermeer's number for this campaign is IK3175.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
