What is wrong
Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling one Watson and Chalin steerable lift axle suspension system with part number SL2065.27. The lower rear pivot cap screws may not be long enough to sufficiently engage the locking feature of the corresponding nuts.
What can happen
The short screws can cause the hardware to separate from the suspension system and become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
Volvo Trucks will install a replacement lower rear pivot fastener hardware kit, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 30, 2021. Owners may contact Volvo Trucks customer service at 1-800-528-6586.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
