What is wrong
Yakima Products, Inc. (Yakima) is recalling certain Q-Tower Roof Racks, part numbers 8000124 and 8000135, manufactured January 26, 2015, to May 26, 2015, and Q-Tower Stripped Replacement towers, part number 8880048, manufactured April 1, 2015, to April 15, 2015. The affected roof racks have crossbar clamping wedges that may slide on the crossbars during the installation process, causing the rack to have a loose fit on the vehicle.
What can happen
A rack that does not snugly fit the roof may eject from the vehicle while it is in motion increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
