In July 2026, the United States exported $197.5 billion of goods and imported $332.9 billion, a trade deficit of $135.5 billion. Over the 12 months to July 2026, the goods trade deficit was $1.07 trillion. These are goods only and not seasonally adjusted.
By total goods trade (exports plus imports) in the 12 months to July 2026, the largest US trading partners were Mexico ($954.1 billion), Canada ($723.8 billion), China ($377.1 billion), Taiwan ($320.7 billion) and Vietnam ($255.3 billion).
In the 12 months to July 2026, the largest US goods trade deficits were with Vietnam ($219.1 billion), Mexico ($213.3 billion) and Taiwan ($203.7 billion).
In the 12 months to July 2026, the largest import groups were machinery and computers ($814.2 billion), electrical equipment and electronics ($562.3 billion) and vehicles and parts ($320.2 billion). The largest export groups were oil, fuels, natural gas and coal ($365.8 billion), machinery and computers ($310.9 billion) and electrical equipment and electronics ($244.6 billion).
It is official US government data on trade in goods, recorded at customs. A new month comes out about five weeks after the month ends. Services trade is not included.
