What is wrong
BLUE BIRD IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008 THROUGH 2010 MICRO BIRD SCHOOL BUSES MANUFACTURED FROM AUGUST 28, 2007 THROUGH OCTOBER 29, 2009. AN INCORRECT NUMBER OF RIVETS MAY HAVE BEEN INSTALLED IN THE FRONT ROOF CAP THAT ATTACHES TO THE FRONT ROOF SHEET. THESE BUSES FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 221, "SCHOOL BUS BODY JOINT STRENGTH."
What can happen
AN INADEQUATE NUMBER OF RIVETS IN THE ROOF WOULD INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY TO THE BUS OCCUPANTS IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
