What is wrong
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2016 Surveyor travel trailers and fifth wheels, models SVT321BHTS, SVT33RETS, SVT32RLTS, SVT33RLTS and SVT32RETS, manufactured April 13, 2015, to October 6, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the power supply wire for the room slide mechanism may have been incorrectly installed such that it doesn't pass through a circuit breaker.
What can happen
Without the power supply wire being properly connected to a circuit breaker, an excessive power draw or electrical short may result in melted wires and an increased risk of a fire.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles and correct the power supply wire installation if needed. Damaged power supply wires will be replaced as necessary. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on November 3, 2015. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-3119 extension 205. A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
