What is wrong
Great Dane Trailers (Great Dane) is recalling certain 2022 Champion dry van and Everest refrigerated trailers. The wheel hubs may have an insufficient amount of lubrication, which could cause the hub bearings to fail.
What can happen
Hub bearing failure could cause the wheel hub assembly to detach, causing a loss of stability and control, creating a road hazard, and increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
Great Dane will work with SAF Holland, the wheel hub supplier, to inspect the wheel hubs and add the proper amount of lubricant as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 25, 2022. Owners may contact Great Dane customer service at 1-877-369-3493.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
