What is wrong
Heartland Recreational Vehicles, LLC (Heartland) is recalling certain 2021 North Trail and Mallard recreational trailers. The refrigerator roof vents were not routed properly during production.
What can happen
An improperly routed vent may allow the refrigerator to overheat, increasing the risk of a fire. Further, exhaust gas trapped inside the vehicle can cause carbon monoxide poisoning, increasing the risk of injury or death.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
Dealers will inspect the roof vent, and repair the vent sleeve connection if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 31, 2021. Owners may contact Heartland customer service at 1-877-262-8032.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
