What is wrong
CERTAIN TRUCKS FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 121, "AIR BRAKE SYSTEMS." A STANDARD FITTING WAS INSTALLED IN PLACE OF A SINGLE CHECK VALVE ON THE PARK BRAKE RELAY VALVE.
What can happen
THIS COULD RESULT IN THE PARKING BRAKE NOT RELEASING AND STOPPING THE VEHICLE INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
DEALERS WILL INSTALL THE CHECK VALVE. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN ON MAY 3, 2004. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT INTERNATIONAL AT 1-800-448-7825.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
