What is wrong
Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain 2021-2023 International MV vehicles. The high voltage positive cables that connect the battery packs to the manual service disconnects (MSD) may have been mislabeled.
What can happen
A misidentified electrical cable may be mistaken for a de-energized cable by a technician or first responder, increasing the risk of electrical shock and injury.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
Dealers will reinstall the battery cables and replace the associated warning labels, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters were mailed January 13, 2023. Remedy parts are expected to become available 1st Quarter of 2023. Owners may contact Navistar's customer service at 1-800-448-7825. Navistar's number for this recall is 22522.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
