What is wrong
Winnebago Industries, Inc. (Winnebago) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Winnebago Journey and Adventurer motorhomes, and 2015 Itasca Meridian and Suncruiser motorhomes manufactured March 20, 2014, through November 6, 2015, and equipped with Atwood on demand water heaters, models OD45, OD50, and OD50CW. The affected water heaters have a water and gas valve that may cause the water heater to overheat the water in the hot water supply tap.
What can happen
The overheating of the water may result in the release of steam, possibly causing the operator to scald themselves and increasing the risk of injury.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
Winnebago will notify owners. The remedy for this recall is still under development. The recall began on January 26, 2016. Owners may contact Winnebago customer service at 1-641-585-3535, or Atwood customer service at 1-574-264-2131.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
