What is wrong
Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack Trucks) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Granite vehicles equipped with certain SL2065 steerable lift axles. The lower rear pivot cap screws may not be long enough to sufficiently engage the locking feature of the corresponding nuts.
What can happen
The short screws can cause the hardware to separate from the suspension system and become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
Mack Trucks will inspect the suspension system and replace the lower rear pivot cap screws, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 30, 2021. Owners may contact Mack Trucks' customer service at 1-800-866-1177. Mack Trucks' number for this recall is SC0426.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
