What is wrong
NABI Bus, LLC (NABI) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 31LFW transit buses manufactured February 10, 2013, to March 10, 2014, and 2012-2014 40LFW transit buses manufactured October 5, 2012, to June 2, 2014, and equipped with Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fuel systems manufactured by Agility Fuel Systems. The tanks for the CNG fuel system may be abraded by Pressure Relief Devices (PRDs) mounted adjacent to the tanks.
What can happen
Contact between the PRD and the tank may result in a CNG leak, increasing the risk of a fire.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
NABI will notify owners, and dealers will install a temporary flexible cover over the PRD. A permanent improvement is still under development by Agility. Owners will receive a second notification when the permanent remedy becomes available. The recall is expected to begin in September 2014. Owners may contact NABI customer service at 1-256-241-1298. A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
