What is wrong
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: HEAVY DUTY TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS). THE WIRING FROM THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT WAS CONNECTED TO THE WRONG WHEEL SENSOR.
What can happen
SHOULD THE ABS WIRING BE CROSSED, IT WOULD RESULT IN A SIGNIFICANT DEGRADATION IN BRAKING STABILITY. A SIGNAL WOULD BE SENT TO THE WRONG BRAKE CHAMBER WHEN A BRAKE IMBALANCE IS DETECTED INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE CRASH.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE ABS WIRING AND PROPERLY CONNECT THE WIRES, IF NECESSARY.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
