What is wrong
NOVA BUS IS RECALLING MODEL YEAR 2009 LFS BUSES EQUIPPED WITH Q'STRAINT MAX MOBILITY DEVICE REMOTE RELEASE BELTS USED ON AMERICAN INSIGHT TRANSVERSE FLIP UP SEATS WITH BUILD DATES BETWEEN OCTOBER 2008 AND OCTOBER 2009. THESE DEVICES ARE USED TO RESTRAIN PASSENGERS USING MOBILITY AID PRODUCTS. THE MOBILITY DEVICE RESTRAINT BELTS MAY NOT LOCK AS DESIGNED, AND MAY FAIL TO PROPERLY RESTRAIN THE PASSENGER AND THE MOBILITY DEVICE.
What can happen
IF THE BELT DOES NOT LOCK AND THE MOBILITY DEVICE IS NOT PROPERLY RESTRAINED, THERE IS AN INCREASED RISK OF INJURY TO THE PASSENGER IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
NOVA BUS IS WORKING WITH AMERICAN SEATING AND WILL REPLACE THE Q'STRAINT MAX REMOTE RELEASE BELTS WITH Q'STRAINT QRT DELUXE REMOTE RELEASE BELTS FREE OF CHARGE. AMERICAN SEATING IS HANDLING THE REMEDY FOR THIS CAMPAIGN. PLEASE SEE AMERICAN SEATING'S DEFECT REPORT 09E-065. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 4, 2010. A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
