What is wrong
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2014 Starcraft Bus Prodigy School Buses. The affected buses were assembled with an inconsistent application of adhesive to the roof panels. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard FMVSS 221, "School Bus Body Joint Strength."
What can happen
Without a consistent application of adhesive, the panels may separate in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the joints for the proper amounts of adhesive, fixing them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on November 9, 2017. A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
