What is wrong
Vermeer Manufacturing Company (Vermeer) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Vermeer-Freeman TR620 trailers manufactured August 8, 2014, to June 17, 2016, and TR626 trailers manufactured May 5, 2015, to June 17, 2016, equipped with certain Bendix SR5 spring brake valves. These valves may have been improperly machined which may cause a delay of application of the spring brakes while parking.
What can happen
If there is a delay of the spring brake application, the trailer may roll away after it has decoupled from the tractor, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
Bendix and Vermeer Freeman will work together to send necessary parts and instructions to repair the spring brake valve. Dealers will be reimbursed for their parts and labor. Vermeer issued an interim notification to owners on August 19, 2016 for remedy not available. Owners may contact Vermeer Customer Service Department at 1-641-628-3141. Vermeer's number for this recall is VFK3104.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
