What is wrong
THE INVOLVED VEHICLES FAIL TO MEET FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT", IN REGARD TO HEIGHT MOUNTING LOCATION REQUIREMENTS. THE REAR REFLEX REFLECTORS EXCEED THE MAXIMUM 60 INCH HEIGHT MOUNTING LOCATION REQUIREMENT. OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE IN A BOB-TAIL MODE OR PARKING IN OTHER THAN DAYLIGHT HOURS MAY CONVEY AN INCORRECT PERCEPTION TO MOTORISTS APPROACHING FROM THE REAR.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
