What is wrong
Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain model year 2015 GU trucks manufactured April 28, 2014, to June 19, 2014. The Cummins ISL engines in these vehicles may have been equipped with Fleetguard UFF-XT fuel filters, part number FF63009, whose filter shell may separate from the fuel filter nut plate causing the engine to stall without warning.
What can happen
If the engine stalls unexpectedly there is an increased risk of a crash.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
Cummins will notify owners, and Cummins Service Centers will replace the fuel filter with a non-defective one, free of charge. The recall began on September 2014. A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
