What is wrong
Coach and Equipment Mfg. Corp. (Coach and Equipment) is recalling certain 2024 Phoenix shuttle buses, equipped with certain GO-ES Space Saver Foldaway Seats. The recliner mechanism may not engage when the seat back is fully reclined. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages."
What can happen
The seat back could release under the shoulder belt load, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
Coach and Equipment will direct owners to Freedman's instructions on how to inspect and repair the seat as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 13, 2024. Owners may contact Coach and Equipment customer service at 1-800-724-8464.

A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
