What is wrong
Prevost Car (US) Inc. (Prevost) is recalling certain 2010 H3-45 VIP, 2024 H3-45 and X3-45 vehicles. The coolant heaters may generate excessive exhaust gas and overheat.
What can happen
Excessive exhaust gas may increase the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning, and an overheating heater increases the risk of a fire. Additionally, a vehicle fire may require an evacuation procedure in an uncontrolled traffic situation, increasing the risk of injury to passengers.
The fix
Recall repairs are free of charge.
Vehicle owners are advised not to operate the heaters until they have been repaired. Prevost will inspect the coolant heaters, replace the damaged components, and clean the heater's internal components, as necessary. In addition, Prevost will adjust the air to fuel ratio. All repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 17, 2024. Owners may contact Prevost customer service at 1-866-870-2046. A recall means the maker found a safety problem and offers a free fix; it does not mean every unit has the problem. Units affected are as reported by the company. Popular models sell more and so have more recalls and complaints. Official public data; texts are shortened. A dealer can tell whether a single vehicle still needs the repair.
